How does the Newborn Photoshoot process work?

When it comes to having a newborn photography session with me, it’s important to remember that I take a limited number of photoshoots each month to ensure the highest quality of service. That’s why booking your session based on your due date is best, so we can secure a slot. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you understand what to expect: 

  • Initial Contact: Reach out to check if I’m available and to secure a slot based on your due date. Please fill in the contact form with as many details as possible to help me better understand your vision and preferences.
    Photoshoots take place at our home studio located at 1 Hilltop Way, HA7 3DB, Stanmore, London.
    All sessions are by appointment only and our hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Phone Consultation: We’ll get to know each other better during our phone consultation and plan your session. We’ll discuss important details such as outfit options, poses, and your preferred style, ensuring I understand precisely what you’re looking for and confirming that I’m the right photographer for you.
  • Secure Your Booking: Once we’ve discussed your vision, you can secure your session with a £99 non-refundable retainer, which will be deducted from your final order.
  • Choose Your Package: You can choose your preferred package during the booking process. Along with your booking confirmation, you will receive a preparation guide.
  • The Photoshoot: The actual photoshoot will be scheduled after your baby’s arrival. I’ll work with you to create images that truly reflect who you are and your special bond with your baby. I’ll ensure you have a relaxed and enjoyable experience as we capture the beauty and love of this special time in your life.
  • Final Payment: The remaining balance for your session is due at the end of the photoshoot. You can pay by bank transfer, card, or cash.
  • Viewing Your Images: About 4-5 weeks after your photoshoot, you’ll have access to a private online gallery to view your fully edited images and select your favorites.
  • Ordering Additional Products: You can purchase extra digital files, prints, and wall art separately as a la carte products:
    • Additional high-resolution digital image: £30
    • A detailed price list for additional products can be found on the Wall Art page.
  • Delivery of Your Products: Once you’ve selected your images, you can download your digital files. Your prints and wall art will be delivered to your home within up to 3 weeks.

It’s important to note that unedited images are not included in any packages and are unavailable for purchase.

The ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is between 7 and 14 days after birth. This is when your baby is still in that sleepy, curly stage, making it easier to capture those peaceful, adorable moments. To secure the best time for your newborn photography session, it’s best to book after your 20-week scan, allowing us to plan and reserve a spot based on your due date.

If your baby has already arrived, don’t worry! Feel free to reach out, and I will do my best to accommodate a last-minute newborn photoshoot.

Newborn sessions are scheduled exclusively in the morning to ensure your baby is calm, well-rested, and ready for those precious photos. This timing helps us capture your baby in the most natural, relaxed state.

A typical newborn photoshoot usually lasts between 2 and 4 hours. During this time, we take plenty of breaks for feeding, cuddling, and ensuring your baby’s comfort. Your baby’s safety and well-being are my top priority, so there’s no need to feel rushed.

I take a relaxed approach to the session, allowing time for your little one to rest or settle, while still capturing those special, precious moments. Each newborn is unique, so the session is paced according to their needs, making sure they are calm and content throughout.

Yes, when you book a newborn photoshoot, you’ll have the opportunity to express your personal style through a provided questionnaire. This allows you to select your preferred colours, props, and overall aesthetic for the session.

If you plan to display a large print in your home, coordinating the colours of the photoshoot with your home decor can create a more cohesive and visually appealing result. I offer a variety of soft, skin-friendly outfits and adorable props for your baby, carefully chosen to complement your style and create timeless, beautiful newborn portraits.

Every baby is unique, and some may prefer certain poses over others. While you are welcome to suggest any specific poses for your newborn photoshoot, my priority is always to keep your baby calm, comfortable, and happy. I carefully observe their cues and respect their natural movements to ensure a stress-free experience.

Safety is my top concern, so I will never attempt any poses that could harm your baby. My goal is to create beautiful, natural newborn portraits that reflect your baby’s personality and the precious moments you share.

I strongly encourage you to bring your family to your newborn photoshoot. Including parents, partners, and siblings creates beautiful, meaningful portraits that reflect the love and connection of your growing family. Capturing these special moments together is an essential part of the experience.

Be sure to bring a suitable outfit for each family member to ensure a cohesive and polished look for your photos. Pets are an important part of your family, and I believe they should be included in this special memory as well. Feel free to bring your furry friends along for the session, as they add to the warmth and charm of the photos.

For your newborn photoshoot, I have nappies available in case you run out, but I recommend bringing your preferred brand to ensure your baby’s comfort. Babies often eat more than usual during the session, so it’s best to come prepared with extra bottles or breastfeeding supplies.

Having everything your baby might need, such as blankets, pacifiers, and extra clothes, will ensure a smooth and stress-free session. The goal is to keep your little one calm and content, allowing us to capture the best moments during the photoshoot.
